This too shall pass
This has been a rough year so far for my group of recovery friends. We lost one of our special women on Valentine's day to a heroin overdose. She was 44 and her name was Lara.
Then 3 weeks later, another member of my home group died from pneumonia. She was 52 and her name was Val. She was a dear friend of mine for over 20 years.
It is hard to believe that either of them is gone.It is very sad to lose friends in recovery. I always think that we are safe now that we have been exposed to recovery, but that is not true. also, the longer I stay clean, the more people I know that have died.
Thanks to the 12 steps I have a belief that there is something after this life. I don't believe in a heaven in the clouds where you float around with angels. I believe that there is so much more to us than the bodies we inhabit.I believe our spirits are infinite. I believe we meet each other again and again, and for that I am grateful.
Good bye my sweet friends. Catch in the next go round.

Dear friend, the road to recovery has many of pitts but, we don't have to crawl into them. You are doing what you need to do, talk-talk-talk. My solutions come from my HP and sober friends sharing and caring. Time does lessen the pain but never removes the memory of it. Stick close to the winners!
