Intervention

An Interventionist specializes with addicts and their families stuggling with with life threatening problems such as drug addiction. Drug intervention, alcohol intervention, eating disorders, trauma and crisis are very dificult things to face alone. Many families can hit their bottom with the addicts behavior and get the person suffering the help they need. However, there are times when an intervention is necessary. Usually an interventionist is called when the family member or friend determines the best way to help the person identified with a drug, alcohol or mental health isseue is to approach the problem by pulling in professional help. Most interventionist will work with the family affected by the problem to assist them in determining the right treatment approach. Education is key in making the right decision when facing problems like alcoholism, herion addiction, crystal meth addiction, eating disorders and trauma. Below are models for intervention.

Intervention Models

The ARISE Intervention Model This model usually involves family members, friends, work associates that are appropriate in a unified process that is directed by the interventionist, but includes all participants including the identified person expierencing issues to stay focused on getting the right level of help that is indicated.

The JOHNSON Intervention Model This model is done with the idea in mind that the participants are ready to set bottom lines is the identified person does not agree to get help. Many times the family can raise the bottom for an addict when they see severe consequences with the direction the alcoholic is going. The goal is to intervene before the worst, which is often death, happens. This model is done in a compassionate yet confrontive manner. Many times a percieved crisis in the addict's life can compel them into accept treatment.

The SYSTEMIC Intervention Model This Model is an alternative to traditional confrontation. The family, friends, and colleagues become educated and form a team to work with the person in trouble. Together they address the issue in a loving and respectful manner. This approach can be a very successful system when the time peramiters and participants are committed.

Do you need an intervention to help your loved one? There is an organization of certified Interventionist the Association of Intervention Specialists. This is a group of Interventionists that range in pricing, location, and style.
