Just For Today – July 27 – We Do Recover

“After coming to NA, we found ourselves among a very special group of people who have suffered like us and found recovery. In their experiences, freely shared, we found hope for ourselves. If the program worked for them, it would work for us.”
Recovery often begins with doubt. Many newcomers arrive at their first meeting feeling skeptical and unsure. Surrounded by people who seem so different from them, they wonder: Can this program really work for me? But as they listen to the stories of others—stories of struggle, transformation, and hope—they begin to see that recovery is possible.

Finding Hope in the Fellowship

When newcomers walk into an NA meeting, they may feel overwhelmed or out of place. They see a room full of people they don’t know, many of whom look nothing like them. But as they listen to others share, they realize they’re not so different after all.

“Our meetings are filled with addicts whose lives have turned completely around.”

Why the Fellowship Brings Hope:

  1. Shared experiences: Hearing others talk about their struggles shows newcomers they’re not alone.
  2. Visible transformation: Seeing people who have found recovery inspires confidence that change is possible.
  3. Welcoming environment: The nonjudgmental support of NA makes it easier to open up and trust the process.

The hope found in the fellowship is often the spark that ignites a newcomer’s recovery journey.

The Power of Recovery

One of the most powerful aspects of NA is the proof it offers that recovery works. Every member has experienced the devastation of addiction, yet the program has helped them rebuild their lives. This shared success story reassures newcomers that they, too, can recover.

“Against all odds, we are recovering.”

How the Program Works:

  • Structure: The Twelve Steps provide a clear, actionable framework for recovery.
  • Support: Meetings and sponsorship offer guidance and encouragement.
  • Spiritual growth: Connecting with a Higher Power fosters strength and resilience.

By working the program, we move from despair to hope, chaos to stability, and isolation to connection.

Entrusting Our Lives to Recovery

The idea of trusting NA and a Higher Power with our lives can feel intimidating at first. Many of us spent years trying to control everything, only to end up lost in addiction. Surrendering that control feels risky—but it’s also the key to freedom.

“We can safely entrust our lives to our Higher Power and to Narcotics Anonymous.”

Why Trusting the Process Works:

  1. Proven success: The program has helped countless others find recovery.
  2. A Higher Power’s care: Surrendering to something greater than ourselves provides strength and direction.
  3. Daily commitment: Staying clean one day at a time keeps recovery manageable and achievable.

By trusting the program and doing the work, we secure the promise of a better way of life.

Recovery Is a Sure Thing

The miracle of recovery is available to anyone willing to work for it. It’s not always easy, but the rewards are undeniable: freedom from addiction, personal growth, and a sense of purpose.

“The recovery I’ve found in Narcotics Anonymous is a sure thing.”

Each day we stay clean, we strengthen our recovery and build a brighter future. By continuing to base our lives on the principles of NA, we ensure ongoing growth and transformation.

Just for today: The recovery I’ve found in Narcotics Anonymous is a sure thing. By basing my life on it, I know I will grow.
