Just for Today: March 2 – Success

Discovering a New Path

Before embarking on the journey of recovery, many of us were strangers to the concept of success. Our previous attempts to escape the grips of addiction alone only led to further disappointment and a deep-seated familiarity with failure. Today’s meditation invites us to reflect on the transformative power of success as we experience it in recovery.

Embracing Our Achievements

“Any form of success was frightening and unfamiliar.” – Basic Text, p. 14

In the throes of addiction, failure became a constant companion, its presence almost expected and accepted as an inevitable part of our existence. The notion of success was foreign, an experience so distant it felt out of reach.

However, as we commit to our recovery and maintain our sobriety, we begin to witness the emergence of success in various aspects of our lives. What was once an unfamiliar terrain becomes a source of pride and accomplishment. We learn to celebrate our successes, however small they may seem, recognizing them as milestones on our journey.

Learning to Accept Success

This new relationship with success invites a shift in perspective. We’re challenged to accept that achieving our goals and making progress are not only possible but are becoming part of our new reality. This realization fosters a sense of self-worth and confidence, inspiring us to set higher goals and strive for greater accomplishments.

A Reflection on Progress

Today, let us take a moment to acknowledge the successes we’ve achieved on our path to recovery. Each step forward, no matter how small, is a testament to our strength, resilience, and commitment to change. As we continue to navigate this journey, let us embrace the successes that come our way, allowing them to propel us toward a future filled with hope, achievement, and the realization that we are capable of overcoming the obstacles that once seemed insurmountable.
